Oroblanco Grapefruit Tree (Citrus maxima × Citrus paradisi)

Sweet, Seedless, and Surprisingly Gentle

Does not ship to Florida

The Oroblanco Grapefruit (meaning “white gold” in Spanish) is a delicious, seedless hybrid between a pomelo and a white grapefruit. It’s known for its mild, sweet flavor, low acidity, and lack of bitterness—making it perfect for those who love citrus but find traditional grapefruit too tart.

A favorite among citrus lovers, the Oroblanco is easy to grow, productive, and makes a standout addition to any sunny garden or patio.

Growing Information:

  • USDA Zones: 9–11 (Grow outdoors year-round)

  • Cold Hardiness: Hardy down to about 28–30°F (-2 to -1°C)

    • In colder zones, grow in a large container and move indoors during frost or freezing weather

  • Sun Requirements: Full sun (6–8+ hours per day)

  • Mature Height: 12–20 ft (easily pruned smaller in pots)

  • Soil Needs: Well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil

 Fruit & Harvest:

  • Fruit Description: Round to slightly flattened, thick green-yellow rind when ripe. Flesh is pale yellow to white, juicy, seedless, and exceptionally sweet.

  • Seed Content: Seedless

  • Pollination: Self-pollinating — no second tree required

  • Bloom Time: Late winter to early spring

  • Harvest Season: Late fall through early spring (typically October to March)

Homeowner Tips:

  • Perfect for backyard citrus lovers or container growers in cooler regions.

  • Water regularly, especially during dry spells — but ensure good drainage.

  • Feed with a citrus-specific fertilizer during the growing season (spring through fall).

  • Thin out heavy fruit clusters to encourage larger, better-tasting fruit.
